I've had some one ask me to try and restore documents from a memory stick that went arroy.
Plug it in and the computer detects it but donest map it, look in the Computer managment tool, and it said the disk isn't inizalised.
If i try and initialise it i receive an error.

anyone have any thoughts other than its buggered :P

whats the error its gives you (lots of detail please) as it could be that the filesystem on the stick has died or the actual controler on the stick is fubar.

I'd say give the manufacturer a phone and see if they can help?

I reckon that they would want to charge for doing anything, but then again, they might want to keep up some nice PR and help out. Nothing to loose asking :)

This is what i get when i try an initialise the disk : i didn't find the link that helpful.

an unexpected error has occurred. check the system event log for more information on the error. close tthe disk managment console, then restart disk managment or restart the computer.

Unspecified error (80004005).

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

sounds like the hardware in the stick is fubar mate i would contact the manufacture or check there website for any tools that may help. sorry :(
