USB mic/headset?

Does anyone know anything about USB microphones or even USB microphone headphones headsets? I’m specifically thinking about Skype and having a simple, single plug in solution for both my desktop and laptop which could be used independently to playing MP3s in the background.

Are they any good these USB things?

I had this headset but found them uncomfortable.

I'm currently using Sennheiser PC155 USB...

Eak, ~£60? Are they really worth it over the ~£30 models?
