usb mouse and keyboard won't work with my laptop ?

I'm currently using a laptop as my main rig is out of action and awaiting a hd3870x2 whe it comes out.

I want to use mny logitech g7 mouse and g15 keyboard with this laptop but neither work ? both plugged in but they just wont work any ideas ?

The laptop is pretty old some kind of packard bell easy note model f5287

The g15 keyboard is all lit up but the laptop doesn't want to accept any comands from it and the mous eis the same?

Anyone got any ideas ?

Yeah its got the usb drivers installed and xp has sp2 installed too, from the pakard bell website i found a usb mouse patch for this laptp but it still doesn't work.
