USB mouse quirk on boot

Right, on the odd occasion when login prompt appears the mouse doesn't move, I need to pull it out and back in again for it to work.

Why? USB controller seems fine, as do the drivers

next time this happens - you should be able to tab to the username you need (if its the XP Welcome screen you are meaning) and actuallly log in without the mouse, only to see once Windows is fully loaded at the desktop whether the mouse is functional then.

I would also try a different usb port - maybe its on a strange internal hub ( I think I have three usb "hubs" on my motherboard) I am guessing you are attaching the mouse actually to the pc rather than to an external hub?

What kind of mouse / motherboard / external hub do you have?

My Razer Diamondback does this every once in a while. No idea what it is, although so far it has only ever happened once on my new rig - used to be at least once a week on my last rig.

Doesn't particularly bother me so I have never looked for a solution.

I don't use a hub. Yes I have logged in with it not working, come desktop it still justs sits until its re-plugged.

PDA, USB printer etc seem to be fine never drop.
