Hello,

I've been struggling with this problem the last few nights.

My usb devices have stopped working, and it doesn't recognize whatever I plug in.
And now even when there's nothing plugged in, a popup keeps coming up saying the driver failed to install.

I'm using Windows 7 64bit.

My logitech wifi keyboard still works, but I don't want to take that out incase it doesn't recognize it when I plug it in again.

This message is now constantly coming up. :(

uninstall the usb ports in device manger and reboot.

I hope you have a ps2 keyboard just in case :D

I tried that, and the usb wifi for keyboard and mouse installs ok, and my external harddrive shows up ok, but they were still working earlier, my phone which had stopped working earlier still doesn't work.

Have you tried the device(s) in another computer?

Have your tried the keyboard/mouse int he same port as the malfunctioned USB device failed?

If both of those are yes and they work, then try locating and downloading the lastest drivers for the devices making sure you uninstall the old drivers first.

Check also your motherboard drivers are up to date as these often come with their own set of USB drivers.

Pop into device manager, then properties...Click on general tab a check the device status. This will normally tell you if it's a problem with drivers or the device.

Lastly, check the event manager and google anything that's suspicious.

I had/have the same error, I started getting it one day and thought it was my mouse, as when Windows loaded it would take a few seconds before I can use it. Then 1 evening I noticed my USB stick isn't showing up in "Computer" so I figured it was dead and this is what Windows was warning me about. Then I got a new keyboard 2 weeks ago which has a USB hub on it so I reordered my USB devices, I took my USB stick out and put keyboard in the same port and I got a blue screen, I rebooted and 5 seconds after Windows loaded I got a blue screen again, so I put the keyboard in another port and everything is working fine, so I am not using that USB port now.
