USB on Xbox One

Good evening
I have an external hard drive connected to my Xbox one and it works with one of the USB ports of the console but when I plug it into the other port the console does not recognise the hard drive. How can i resolve this? It is a Seagate hard drive and is already formatted to store Xbox games. Thanks

Does the port still charge the controllers? If yes I don't really see the issue.

i dont use the ports for charging the controllers i have the venom charger which i plug into a different USB port which is not on the Xbox

Plug a controller (remove the batteries first) into the USB port that doesn't pick up the hard drive. Does the controller work?
