A colleague has a USB pen with their sons work on it for school, which is meant to be sent off tomorrow.

The PCB has snapped about 2mm in, and the contacts to the board are not touching [obviously].

Am I right in thinking that assuming the flash module and IDE-USB adaptermajig parts are OK, then superglue on the PCB and careful application of solder should get it working again?

For the record I can't see any metal parts to solder to on the PCB, any component engineers got any idea?

can't get a good picture I'm afraid, only got the cameraphone.

If you can solder wires onto the part to recreate the plug at the end, then you will be fine. If not, I dont know what you can do . . . .

just solder the contacts back onto the board or for a quick fix just super glue them back on.

I called a students bluff when her USB "accidentally" broke so she couldn't hand in her work....i love being a bar steward :D

Ah, cheers, I might try just superglue. Does it need to be any specific type [conductive or owt] or will anything do?

Buggered if I can locate a component tech locally [Lambeth North area] so this appears to be my only option at the moment :-(
