USB Ports reboot system

A new problem, a new thread:P

About two months ago I've noticed that plugging a device into one of my USB ports occasionally reboots the system. It was fairly rare but recently I've installed a side fan and sorted out the cables inside. Now it happens frequently, especially when I try to plug in my X360 controller. After the PC resets itself, the controller works fine (just as any other device). I maybe had 1 or 2 cases in 5 when plugging it in didn't reset the system. Also, it seems to happen more often with the front USB ports. Sometimes, the PC reboots simply when I touch the metal on the USB port with an USB plug. I think that all the cables are plugged in properly into the mobo and I didn't notice anything suspicious about the cables themselves.

I didn't happen with my previous system. I was using an integrated GPU back then, with the same mobo, CPU (it wasn't oc'ed at that time) and PSU but a different case. I've changed the case (now it's a Thermaltake Armor A90) and the GPU (oc'ed 7850).

Do I have static building up or are the USB ports just broken? I'm sure that the main socket in my room isn't grounded, I live in quite an old block of flats. Is the PSU out of juice (500 W OCZ SXSII)?

Do you have any suggestion how to get rid of the problem? It's really annoying;/ Thanks

Sounds much like a grounding issue, unfortunately there's no real way of isolating the spot which is effected. A good first step would be to get a reliable source of power (IE plug your computer into a working socket with ground - No ground for a PC is VERY dangerous). If that doesn't cure the problem, have a go at building the PC outside of the case on a box. This will eliminate whether the case is the issue or not.

Thanks for your help,

My PC is plugged into a socket strip with safety systems but this strip itself is plugged into a socket which, AFAIK, doesn't have any form of grounding;/ It's weird that it seem to happen more frequently with the X360 controller.

Do you have a friends or a neighbours you can quickly try the PC at? If you are in the UK I can't see how your house wouldn't be suitably wired, it's actually against the law.

Nah, I'm not from the UK. I wish I was, though:P I'm from a ****hole called Poland and there are quite a few things wrong with my country;p One thing is that I live in a block of flats which actually remembers the communist regime and, as a result, appears to have no grounding at all;p Well, I disasembled the case and checked the cables today. Did some testing and there are already some things which I can safely leave out of equation. Tomorrow, I'll do some further testing. I'll ask for help here if you don't mind, thanks again:P
