Hi in a week or so I am getting a new PC and wanted one with lots of USB ports. I have 6 at the moment on this current PC and struggling with all the extra accessories I have now. I am planning to get quite a couple of accessories for flight sim games like the yoke and pedals and other instruments and already got the multi panel display. Is it best to just get a external USB port or look for one with lots of USB ports on case?.

Four is usually max number of front USBs in cases, if you want easily accessible ports.
(without extension cable from mobo's rear ports)

For cases with 5.25" bays it's easy to increase that number by buying 5.25 panel with ports.

Nowadays better motherboards have commonly 2x double USB3 headers and 2x double USB2 headers.
So it would be possible to have fully separate 4xUSB3 and 4xUSB2 ports without any hub sharing motherboard's port.

But fashion of inflexibility, unconfigurability and unversatility has removed 5.25" bays from most cases.
So most cases are crippled in expanding capability.
And you would be stuck using extension cables/hubs connected to rear ports.

As for getting new PC you better wait for availability of Zen2 Ryzens in 7th day.
Even Intel should lower their prices at that point... by awesomely huge for them 15%.

You should definitely follow this advice. I'm doing likewise and waiting to see how the Intel landscape looks before making any firm decisions.
