Hi,

My mum atm is having a problem with a lot of her USB devices on her pc.

currently she has a powered 4 port USB hub, plugged into this is her mouse and the wireless adaptor.

she recently bought an HTC HD7 phone, when she plugged it in it started charging which i was surprised about because it is a massive phone, so it must take a lot of power to charge.

anyway after maybe a minute everything on the hub stops working... but other USB ports do not stop working. (although occasionally the front two ports stop working as well)

i am assuming this has got something to do with phone, as it was not happening before she got it.

any ideas?

cheers

Definitely just overloaded your hub, they split the power of a single USB port so devices connected to a hub can't draw too much or the poor thing just falls over.

There are powered hubs which you plug in to the mains, these don't have that problem.

My advice? Change the current way your devices are connected around, for instance put your lowest power consuming devices on the hub, and your higher demanding ones in to dedicated ports.
