Hi guys

I have got a really old laptop which I use daily and is perfect for checking e-mail etc. The laptop has only got USB 1.0 ports however and a broken CD drive. The USB port is therefore my only meand of getting things on and off of the laptop.

The problem I have is that only 1 of all the USB pen drives I have tried will work on the laptop. The rest just don't do anything when plugged in. That 1 USB drive has now met an unfortunate end and I am stuck.

Has anyone come across this before and has got any ideas how to get the other USB drives working ?

Thanks

Im assuming you have checked things such as drivers for the USB ports and things like that?

I have been on to the Compaq site and there is no chipset drivers listed for the USB ports. There is also no specific drivers listed on the Pen Drive manufactrurers website. Not sure what else to try.

I was wondering if the USB port was not delivering sufficent power to power up alternative USB devices.
