A friend has a problem with his PC where several peripherals that he has connected to the motherboard have shorted and stopped working. As far as I know this has happened with a USB mouse and keyboard and also a PS2 mouse. They were working on his laptop, then died when attached to the PC.
What could be causing this? I'm guessing it's power surge related and must be either the motherboard or the PSU.
Is there any app that will monitor the power output and prove which bit it is causing the issue?
