USB Reciever?!

Hey guys so up until tommorow my computer has always been the main hub(wireless point), but I am moving in with my dad for a bit and his router is downstairs and my pc will be upstairs. Are these USB wireless recievers any good? He only has a 4mb connection and I play a lot online(Xbox Live, swtor etc)!

homeplugs seem much better if you're worried about pings and stuff. Any half decent usb adapter should do the trick though if it's a short term thing...
