Hi all

I've tried to find an answer to this elsewhere but got nothing definative. I'm not usually so tight over a tenner but I have so much unused kit already I should be on hoarders!

Those £10-£15 usb PC remotes available elsewhere have a power button. The literture etc mentions a power button. I'm not convinced as when I used one before it was much more expensive and was wired into the power header and the PSU. Anyone know if these things will power on the PC.....my rough guess is an absolute no as a USB device won't generally work unless the PC is booted. Just wanted to check i've not missed something...my gut instinct can be wrong!

Many thanks

eta - if the above is as I believe, can anyone recommend and IR (must be IR - it's for Harmony use) power on switch, prefferably one that can be used in conjunction with the existing on switch?

Some USB ports retain power after shutdown, there's usually a BIOS setting to disable this or maybe there's something in device manager.
Andi.

My old Remote sensor for Windows XP Media Centre (remember that!?!?) had a connection that went into the lead between the PSU and the Motherboard.

It basically replicated the Power button on the case.
