Afternoon all,

Trying to install a Prolific USB-Serial converter on an XP machine. Got the XP drivers and the rest of it, but after trying to install I get the message:

"An error occurred during the installation of the device. A service installation section in this INF is invalid".

I've tried the XP & 2000 drivers, both turn up the same error. I've tried different USB ports too.

Any ideas?

Tried looking on their website for a newer driver? I have always found any kind of serial/parallel to USB cable to be iffy.

Sorted :)

I tried installing it on my Vista machine using Vista's built in drivers and that worked fine. Then I took the two driver files from the Vista machine and put them onto the XP machine.

Plugged in the cable, and bingo!
