USB sound card: Work?

Hey peeps,

Basically ive got my 360 set up through my PC monitor, however im running a VGA splitter cable into the monitor, so only either the 360 or pc can be on at a time. Hence the soundcard in my PC will not work with x box on to power my 5.1 speakers. I have an external 5.1 card for my laptop (trust brand) and was wondering if i plugged this into the xbox usb (it runs off usb) could i realistically use its line in to power my 5.1 speakers?

The main reason i ask is on the laptop the xternal s card requires drivers to be installed to get the PC to rout sound through the usb. Is there any chance it will work without drivers, but through its own line in socket?

If it wont I can use the 3.5mm jack straight into my speakers, but since they have three inputs (back, front, sub) it would be far from ideal as I would only be powering one input

Any ideas?

Hmmm KVA looks rather expensive...

I understand that on windows it needs drivers as its getting the sound from the usb. However, the card itself has a line in input. If i connect the xbox to the line in, will this mean that the card will bypass the usb connection, using it just for power instead?
