Hi.
A friend of mine wants to record all of his Vinals & Tapes to MP3 format.
Ive found his some software to use, but, as he's only using a Laptop to do the recording, he's getting v.bad audio quality.
I was thinking that a USB soundcard would solve that for him.
Can anyone suggest one? Thats as cheap as possible?

Thanks in advance all. :)

What input are you using on the laptop? If the quality is so bad, then it suggests you might be using the mic in? This will give a mono noisy/distorted sound. You must use a line input and set the levels suitably. If the laptop does not have a line in, only a mic in, then yes you will need a USB soundcard or laptop soundcard. A Behringer UCA202 can be had for £20 from a competitor and should give good results. Edirol products are often good value too.
His laptop doesnt have a line-in, so he's using the mic in.
The Behringer one looks ideal for him. I'll suggest he gets that then when i next see him. :)

Thanks.
