usb soundcard for htpc

so ran out of space in my htpc since upgrading to a 2060rtx so thats using 2 slots, and really need the 3rd slot free otherwise itll suffocate :/

dont think i can use the hdmi without upgrading the amp :( (detects as stereo going to tv...)
have 5.1 speakers with a yamaha r365 amp

so looks like theres a bunch of cheap chinese ones probably running on realtek stuff in a box

sound blaster omni
sound blaster x fi hd

asus u5 and u7

dont really know what to go for :/
or which is the best creative one :/

 
I assume you made sure the Windows speaker setup was correct? In my experience it defaults to stereo over HDMI from the GPU and has to be changed manually.

A sound card is overkill as, if it's an HTPC, you only want passthrough anyway. I'd look into solutions to your problem first, before getting a USB sound card, as Windows does support 5.1 via GPU HDMI.
