usb stick not working anymore

I had a memory stick plugged in to transfer a file, accidently unplugged it without "safely removing" before the file had been transferred, now it's not even recognized by the system, have done this before and it's been fine.

When you say its not recognised by the system do you mean it doesnt find the hardware, or it doesnt show up as a drive?

Absolutely nothing happens when i plug it in, no sounds, no visual indication, nothing

Can you test it on a different computer? if so then backup all of the data and format ti to see if that helps.

tried it on 2 computers: no luck

seems like its dead then, not that bad you can get 2Gb pens for about a fiver these days.

yeah sorry, lost track of time, but the important thing is that it won't work now

this happened to me once, after working on my honours project at uni for about 6 hours then saving it to my memory stick... after putting it in my usb slot a few million times, one of the times gave it a final burst of life, which allowed me to copy my project across to my hard drive *whew*

i don't understand why ppl don't make a local copy and work on that, then move it back to the usb when done. that way, even if usb fails, there's still the local copy.....
