usb support in dos or similar

Hi all,

Basically I have a pc which is a bit broken! I want to access the HDD to get some data off but it won't boot into ubuntu or a windows live disk I made. I was wondering if there was a dos boot disk or something out there with usb support so I can get data off the machine.

Have you got another pc that you can run this hdd off as a secondary disk or slave?

I do, but I was hoping to avoid messing around with another pc.

Try this? Best ran off a floppy if I remember rightly. Tested something similar years ago, but I was testing it on a USB drive and it reinitialised the USB drive and lost sight of it.
I am guessing running it off a floppy with a USB drive connected would work better but I got bored and never got that far...

I've always used the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool , works a treat. Although if I was trying to get data off a hard drive I'd probably try using A43 file manager first.
