Hi, i'm having a few issues currently and have tried googling them but not found any fix. First issue is that my computer is not showing any wireless connections as you can see in the image below, it doesn't display any wireless connections available in my home or in my area. Secondly i'm unable to USB Tether with my phone data to my computer, i've tested with my Laptop and on the laptop, both usb tethering and wireless hotspot connection to the laptop works perfectly fine. However since i can't see any wireless connections on my computer, i can't try to connenct to the hotspot wirelessly so my only choice is to usb tether but that doesn't work either as the little red cross indicates no connection. There's nothing wrong with my phone or any settings since the same settings work fine on my laptop. Also there's a little error icon that shows the message below in the screenshot when i double click it. I need some help on how i can start seeing wireless connections again on my computer and also why usb tethering doesn't work.
Appreciate any help as i've been trying to fix this issue for quite some time now but i've simply gotten no where from google and visiting forums so my only hope is to post in tech help sections on this website, thanks!

Your desktop that won't connect. Does it have a WiFi receiver ? Either a 3rd party card or built into motherboard. If you don't have that then you can't get wifi.

You can get cheap USB wifi adapters for a 10er from Argos if you need one in a pinch.

It's been years since i've always used wired connection but i faintly recall me being able to see wireless connections at one point so i think i already have a wifi adapter or my motherboard already has one, it's z87a asus motherboard.

Z87a didn’t have wi-fi.

it doesn't? hmm thats a shame, is there anyway i can check whether i have a wifi adaptor or something? Just want to make sure before i go and buy a wifi adaptor like lartyconshayo said. Furrthermore why is the usb tethering not working? that doesn't have anything to do with wireless right? I feel as though i missed important drivers/services that i didn't install when i reinstalled windows a while back.

You can check whether you have a wireless adapter or not by looking at the PC. A USB or PCI/PCIe wireless adapter will be easy enough to spot.

For the tethering start by telling us what sort of phone you're trying to connect. Also, does it appear in device manager when it 's connected?

I'm trying to connect s8+ and it seems to connect fine because it asks me everytime i connect whether i want to transfer files etc and i've' transferred images to my computer directly through usb before aswell.
