Hi guys,

I'm considering getting a Dell XPS 18 and plugging it into a 24" Dell monitor so that I can run two screens. Seeing as the XPS 18 doesn't have any video outputs, I read that it can be achieved by using a USB to HDMI convertor. Is this solution any good? I'm not concerned about the loss of digital audio transfer, I just want a good picture for photo editing and spreadsheet work.

Cheers,

Jed.

you can get usb monitors now and they're supposedly not bad. As to the hdmi option, no idea if it's good or not but it's not going to do games thats for sure, it shouldn't struggle with movies (assuming no restrictions from movie) or the area's you've listed although I suspect photoshop wouldn't be as fluid

It's going to be for my work desk, plugging into my existing Dell 2408. Mainly MS Office stuff, but maybe some Lightroom etc. Definitely some web browsing :D
