USB to Serial for Rollover?

Hi there. I have a new computer with no serial ports, however I have a Cisco 2501 sitting beside me which I want to configure using a rollover cable.

If I buy a USB to Serial converter and attatch the rollover cable through either DB9 adapter or the more common whole cable which has the serial pins on it already can I expect it to work?

Yes a USB serial adapter will work. I have to use one myself for configuring my NetScreen firewall and various other networking kit.

Thanks mate. I just wanted to be sure if there were any problems.
Do I need to do anything hardware wise or just plug and play?

Might need drivers for the converter... but that should come with the device.

a lot of the convertors don't come with drivers and there isn't a standard one i seems, i use a few different ones at work as my laptop has no serial and theyall have different drivers...what a pain!
