Im wanting a type-c hub to make laptop docking much easier. my laptop only as 2 usb posted but i need 3, but would running keyboard, mouse and SS headset via a dock add any noticeable lag on input? or even worse audio problems over the steelseries arctis pro

type-c port spec
1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge)

also any recommendations on hub that not silly priced

unfortunately most hubs are terrible crap, with the same innards, and will almost alway fail after a while. Good hubs/docks cost a lot more look at caldigit etc)

Sound like all you need though is a USB C splitter/dongle. that splits a usb port into 3 or 4 sockets sine you are running only a kb mouse and headset. so nothing taxing at all really. There's literally dozens. just get any one for a few pound.

What are you calling "silly priced"? Presumably your current monitor doesn't support USB-C docking?

im not bothered about running the screen on the hub, just wanting a good hub that supports a minimum on 3 usb type A'a
dont want a cheap on thats going to make lag type problems, charging would be nice

that is literally all i want buddy, so your saying and cheap ass hub would be fine ?

If you’re only planning to run a keyboard, mouse, and your SteelSeries headset, you’ll be absolutely fine with a cheap, basic USB‑C hub. Those peripherals barely touch the bandwidth of a 10Gbps Type‑C port, so you won’t see any input lag or weird audio issues just because they’re going through a hub. As long as you’re not trying to push high‑refresh external displays (which you've stated you're not bothered about) or heavy data devices through the same cheap hub, it’ll handle everyday peripherals without breaking a sweat.
