I'm thinking about installing some wall sockets that have the built-in USB ports, and was just wondering if anyone has any experience with them? What are the downsides/drawbacks?

Do they require any extra connections compared to a standard socket? Do they continue to draw power when there's nothing plugged in?

No experience with this before so sorry if these are stupid questions!

Thanks for the input.
Is there any additional wiring needed for these sockets, or would it be the same as fitting a standard 2-plug socket?

Very helpful, thanks. Certainly sounds like the MK ones are worth the little extra. I plan on putting it into a new spurred in socket, so depth hopefully won't be an issue.

I considered USB charging but the tech seems to be constantly evolving with different fast charge methods and connector form-factor changes it felt like a bit of a waste of money.

This did cross my mind also, but in the bedroom I don't need fast-charging or anything fancy like that because things will be plugged in overnight. Also, the cost of them is so cheap that I'm not worried about other connector types in future, it's not as though I will have wasted loads of money on it.

I have usb sockets in my bedroom and charge my phone overnight - as tefal says quick charge is irrelevant for that. If I need to charge quickly then I'll use a proper plug.
