USB webcam ?

I'm looking for a good webcam that works in linux. It's not strictly to do skype etc. More to do scenic webcam, surveillance etc.
I can see a lot of "XXXX megapixels" cams on eBay for <£10, and I know that most of them are probably 640x480 effective, at best, with a crap lens etc

So what would you suggest ? Any sample image ?

There's an amazing web site called Google, have you heard of it?

I entered 'Ubuntu+webcams' into it and, as if by magic, out popped this relevant link!

If you use another distribution it should still work as I believe drive support is a built into the kernel.

If I wanted heaps and heaps of useless information then yes, I would have continued using google and tried to sort out if that great article about this and that cam is from 1996 or from 2006.
I posted here to have recent user experience in 2008, not stuff that tells me "webcam works", I know they do.

I use a logitech quick cam, works fine, its 640*480 image
