Hey all,

I was just wandering if anyone was using the Wii online with an unofficial Wifi usb dongle? I figure they all should work fine but im just making sure incase i waste my money :)

Thanks

JJ

Sorry i should have been more clear, i mean plugging into my PC to make it wireless :)
I can't get a wireless router because we have a big network already setup wired so i just need a way of sharing the connection my computer is recieving so i can get my wii online. :)

Do you mean ICS?

If so, then yes, any Wifi dongle will do, just make sure to setup ICS correctly on your PC.

I asked the same question in the Networking forum the other day and the consensus was that it should work fine. I'll try and remember to confirm once the one I have ordered arrives and I have it set up.

I take it the official Nintendo DS wifi one works as well? Not for me but my mates got that and would save some money for when he gets a wii.

Also the range with the DS on that dongle used to be crap (couldnt get a signal downstairs from it upstairs) was that due to the DS's wifi range of the dongles range? Cos we'll be using the wii downstairs.

The Official Nintendo dongle should work fine from what I have read. That is my next option if the cheaper one I have ordered proves to be a problem.

The problem you had with the DS is down to its own wifi capabilities, not those of the Nintendo dongle. The Wii has a more powerful wifi card than the DS so it should connect from further away.

Ok so a good few hours of tearing my hair out and I am no closer to having my Wii connecting to my wifi dongle. Probably because I am an absolute noob at wireless networking. My Wii can see the ad hoc network I have set up but when I try and auto connect to it I get an error saying that the Wii cannot see the access point. Arse.
