Hi guys
a few of questions regarding Win 7 Installation via a USB flash drive dongle

first off I have the disc win 7 64bt ultimate and just bought a little flash drive 8gb
I have watched the video posted here on the forum and am unclear about a couple of things

the video basically formats the card to fat 32
my brand new flash card is already formatted fat 32 so can I just drag the win 7 files onto it ?? and not bother having to type in the DOS commands

I have installed windows many many times via DV Rom etc but never by this method
my flash drive is USB 2 and my dv rom is 24x surely my rom is raster than the USB drive meaning that installation will be quicker via the rom

but I see people posting on the forum that windows installs in a matter of 10 minutes via USB to there SSD Boot drives (which I have) yet my Rom takes about 50 minutes plus

so want to give it a go via the USB rather than the Rom

must add That I downloaded the windows files from the tutorial site
so presumably during the installation process I put in my serial number that I have with my disc

and I set the USB device as first boot device reboot and away we go
thanks
Chris

It can be a waste of time creating a USB install media unless you're using it regularly. The time it takes to prep the stick and copy the files over is time you could have been installing the OS from the DVD. 50 minutes is a long time for an install so my guess is it's the actual process that's taking the time (for whatever reason) rather than the speed of the media.
