I have XP and in the past i've been connecting USB devices at USB2 speeds, no problem.

I think i did a clean install a few months back and noticed then (but didnt do anything about) the fact that i get a warning each time i connect a USB2 gadget telling me that the device would perform better/faster on a USB2 connection.

Any ideas what i've missed?

2 things

-check your bios to make sure usb2 is enabled

-check device manager for usb host controllers. the magic word you are looking for here is "enhanced". if you have this showing then you should be running usb2......

if it's not showing as enhanced but you have usb2 enabled in the bios, i'm stumped..... :D

Nice one. Went through that route and one of the USB devices had a yellow exclamation mark on it..went to properties, updated driver and all is now well. USB2 is back.

Thanks all. :)
