USB3 front header 90 angle

Hey guys,

I just got a Define C case, with an Asus IX Code mobo.
Nice combo, but... the USB 3 front header cable is 90 angle on the mobo and the case grommets are at an angle too.

I just cant get them to line up and fit.
Is there a 90 angle adapter anywhere that will angle the port back upwards like older mobos?

Seems a shame as the lying flat is much better tbh, but needs must and all that.

I looked at some images of the interior of that case. I'm really not seeing a problem. Just snake the cable in from the grommet and line it up. Shouldn't be difficult. It's not going to get angled wrong or snag on anything...
Unless you have an EATX board.

I've tried to paste them together:

Basically where the thick connector of the cable goes, it hits the top of the grommet and it will not line up.
As such I cannot force it in as there just JUST is not enough space, but not by a long shot.

Hope this makes it clearer than mud.

That sucks...

The problem I see here even if you can find a 90 degree usb 3 header is that it'll probably be 90 degrees against the motherboard tray, not out into the cavity of the case... this is quite a pickle.

Yup I did find a 90 and it was exactly as you say, down into the tray itself lol.

Normally people want to go from upright to pointing flat lol.
I love the new flat layout, but it just doesnt fit :(

What if you (gasp) removed the rubber grommet?

Beyond that a new case or dremmel seem like the only options to move forward if you want front panel USB 3.

Or if you're willing to take a hit to your total system E-peen levels you can get a cheap USB3 to USB2 header adapter.

Still doesnt fit :(

Its the metal in the way, I already tried.
BUT I just had a brain wave (doesnt happen very often), can I do a usb 3.1 to usb 3.0 front panel adapter?

As for 3.1 to 3.0 I'm not sure that animal exists yet unfortunately.

I've had to use the 3.0 to 2.0 adapters in cases where the motherboard is a cheap pooper board and has no 3.0 front panel and the case only has 3.0 front panel.

You can get them as cheap as 2 squid I didnt want to shop around on OCUK just needed the image.
Cool thanks...

Suppose its not a bad shout just doing that, at least then I can still access my headers at a pinch.

So slight issue with this...
The IX Code only has 1x USB 2.0 header, and well my Corsair H115i is using it :(

Google "USB 3.0 20-Pin Internal Header MF Extension Cable (Low Profile Connector)"

Smaller
connector and more flexible cables. Hope this helps and you retain USB3 function.
