use 2 routers in a network?

i have the wireless virgin media router, but since i dont like the interface (i prefer to control things like i used to with my linksys wrt54g and any custom firmware) i want to scrap it. what i would like to do is connect the linksys with the VM router via wifi. the linksys would be in my room (where i can plug my xbox as well) and the vm router in the living room as it is now.
how can i make that happen?

Set the WRT to work as a wireless client, and it stops being a router.

i cant find the part where i can put my other routers password and select the wireless network i want to join on the wrt

On mine it's Wireless Mode, under the Wireless tab, but I'm not running the Linksys firmware.

i chose client and there is nowhere again to put the ssid of the other network to join or the key for it

Did you hit Apply? Most of the option-specific settings don't appear till you choose that option and hit save.
