Use a case vibration dampening kit on a CPU heatsink?

Is is safe to use case dampening vibration kits to attach a fan to a CPU heatsink? I was toying with the idea of buying this , but, as it's made of silica gel, I don't know whether it's safe to do so; i.e. would the gel melt if it's in contact with the heat sink.

Any opinions please?

I had one on the top of my heatsink underneathe the fan and had no problems.

Did it make any difference noise wise, and did you use the pad or just the washers?
