Hi all,

I have a spare 17 inch tft monitor which I would like to use a a TV for the bedroom. I need to know if there is any way to adapt the scart output from a freeview receiver to VGA and seperate speakers.Ideally I dont want more than an adapter cable but a small box would also be suitable if I could hide it behind the monitor although any suggestion would be welcome.

thanks

Hi,

Bottom line is yes you can, you need to get a TV tuner that is standalone, it is a small box type thing, and it comes with a remote. I had one years ago so I could watch TV on my PC, without the PC being on.

OCUK don't sell them though, so go figure :-)

Yep, agree - I've got one in my kitchen - cant actually remember what it is but it converts a normal tv picture to a monitor (and visa versa). Use it with a tv sender from the skybox in my lounge - work a treat (unless the microwave is on!!)

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I have seen these but most of them are quite large and would be difficult to hide behind the monitor. Guess I don't have much choice though. Was really hoping for a simple scart to VGA converter box as I already have a freeview box to receive the signals with.
