Use Freesync or not

I now have a 6800xt after swapping my 2080 Super and not sure whether to use freesync or not. The reason why is because it only supports up to 90Hz and my monitor ASUS MG279Q, but my monitor can run at 144Hz. The main games I play are L4D, GFTO, Vermintide 2 and I play IL2 flightsim in VR. I guess the VR doesn't matter as that doesn't use the monitor really.

So I'm unsure whether to use it or just stick with it turned off and max out the fps.

Might be possible to extend the FreeSync range with CRU, have a google and see if it's possible.

I will look into this.

Sounds like a monitor upgrade is on the cards...

It is something I will do later this year, though I am very happy with my current monitor.

I can highly recommend a good HDMI 2.1 TV. Maybe wait for the 2021 models, they look promising and with full 48Gbps.

Something to think about when looking for my next upgrade.

The 6800XT seems overkill for a 90hz monitor.

Either upgrade your monitor or downgrade your GPU.

Apparently CRU can extend range of this monitor to 57-144Hz.

Thanks for this and till today, I had never even heard of CRU. I will definitely have a go at this
