Use Of Playstation Network has been suspended...2.0?

Ok so you can create playlists but guys what about creating your own folders with subfolders for our content. This annoys the hell outta me.

Will we always have to endlessly scroll down if we want to add all our albums, movies and photos. The XMB seriously needs self folder creation with sub folder naming.

Gees, its not asking much Sony, let us put our stuff in each catogory/genre we desire...

Yeah thats deffinately one feature i'd like to see implemented asap.

Will their not be more visualisations for music also?

Thought it hand been mentioned one time.

Just out of curiousity, how do you control the ps3 visualisations? I am certain moving the right analog stick "changes" them, but never hear it mentioned etc.

It would be better if they had the visualisation system that the PS3 does (a little menu can switch between the types).
Folder creation is something I have wanted for ages, considering the PSP has it (Although I think it calls it "groups").

Yeah the right thumbstick works.

I find the visual more relaxing, soothing than on the 360.
As a whole the PS3 offers a much nicer way to access your digital media.

This "Grouping" of content on PS3 is required.
If this appeared id bung in a much larger drive and see to converting all my required video files inc 720 and 1080 movies for use on the PS3, simply because it acts as a nice interface with good sound and video quality. Theirs no reason why it cant substitute as a media centre style device.

Sony really should try and put the HTPC userability features across particulary as this is a great living room piece of technology.

Agreed, if it can be done on a 2 yr old (?) psp can't see why it can't be done on the PS3. Even a crappy 3 yr old Sony Network Walkman supports these functions.

I can only imagine their fear is opening up the file system more than it is on the PS3 internal HDD. I would be happy if you could just do organised music from streaming or external HDD, that way you aren't messing with the internal HDD.

Just downloaded and installed the new firmware , few things i have noticed so far.
1) You can group your videos in various ways now by title, by album etc, but i found if doing it by month looks less cluttered on the XMB.
2) You can arrange your games by type, date, recently played etc, but if you arrange by format all the PSN downloads and demos are put it a separate folder, again looks a bit neater.
3) The RSS reader can be set to which ever language and if you want it on or off.
4) The Friends list is less complicated all the account management stuff is under the strange new network symbol, but you can access your account info by pressing the menu button where you can change comments profile etc.

Anyway back to Ratchet.:)

3) The RSS reader can be set to which ever language and if you want it on or off.

I'm just getting the option for US and french Canadian on mine. It's a US machine and I updated using my US account to be safe. Wonder if they're starting to lock stuff by region.

Just checked on my UK console and it seems to only be PAL countries, ie no US and no Japan. I dont think its a start of a region lockout more to do with checking the PS3 model number and only installing the relevant info.

Have they fixed any of the following
1. It tells you there is a system update (10/10), but then makes you have to go and find the system->Update feature manually to update (2/10)..
2. When you hit the PS button, you can't use the left analogue stick to navigate, you have to switch to the d-pad.. majorly inconsistent and annoying
3. It can see MP3's without having to go 'options->Show all'?
4. obviously the XMB in game, and own music in game isn't there?

I am not interested in glitzing up what is a pretty ropey interface.. each to their own, navigating the 360
seems 10 times quicker, although that still sucks for ability to arrange/navigate media content on your USB Device..

As a much hailed update, this is a let down, although it's at least improving all the time.. which is usually peoples comments, but really, if it wasn't so out of date in the first place, we wouldn't need such frequent updates..

Not particularly bothered as the RSS ticker looks silly stuck up there so I've turned it off. Just wondered if it was because I've got a US machine, or because I was signed in to my US account when I did the update. Anyone with a US machine knocking around? There used to be a far few of us back before UK launch.

XMB in-game is overrated. Im either playing a game or listening to music, viewing pictures. Not both.

Give us some more H264 compatibility.

Maybe if you play by yourself but if you have friends and are a social gamer an integrated XMB is a godsend.

Here is the link to the ps3 theme creator ( in japanese mind )

http://www.jp.playstation.com/ps3/dl...tool_eula.html

Also Mr Latte you can create your own folders to group content, web browser is a lot faster according to neogaf posters, you can also stream game videos from the psn store, video chat has an updated interface and obviously wake on lan for remote play.

There maybe other features.

Come on Sony, let us create our own folders and arrange the games and demos the way I want.

You can now!!!

I have just split my games into:

Playstation Games
Playstation 3 Games
Playstation 3 Demos
Arcade Classics

Under "group by content" you can sort "by Album". Go to each item, select "Information" and type n your folder name in the Album attribute. After you do this to all of them group the list "by Album".

See other PS firmware 2.0 thread as well.
