Hi guys ive got and live in the UK, but will be going away for a few days to Germany on Tuesday. Does anyone know how much I will be stung for with the call charges, and know if you can use 3G or anything else while iam there?

Thanks :)

All I know is I turned off data and phone functions when I was in Germany due to the costs. :(

Due to the lowering of roaming voice shouldn't be too expensive (as long as you don't use it loads) but data will be so don't use data.

Sorry to state the obvious but ring your network and ask, they will have all the charges for roaming calls in every country. :)

Switch off roaming and data. Calls are a little bit more expensive but if you have the country code in front of your numbers then you can text for the same price as you would when you are at home.

O2 do suggest you switch off data roaming. Check their web site for costs.

I've recently been to Russia for a long weekend and my calls for that period were £13.74 and data costs were £38.44

Whats this mate?

I think texts will be 25p, so if I put the UK code +44 then the mobile number the texts will be the normal 10p?

thats not true you cant text for the same price at home even with the country code, you need the country code to send the texts but it will charge you whatever O2s sms rate for germany is

Well it might for you, but not for me. Been to Amsterdam, France and Netherlands and they all worked the same way. Germany may be different though.

On this planet, we have to pay for services like this. Which planet are you from?

:p

Did you pay it or did your company? You stated that it was for business?

Turn off your voicemail- O2 informed me that you pay for the incoming call to voicemail when abroad.

.....Which is completely unfair, given that one doesn't exactly drag the rack containing the O2 voicemail system with you on a plane when you go abroad, but there you go!

I think it's more to do with the fact that the call is routed to you abroad, you reject/ignore/busy the call and it is routed back to the UK again, hence somebody has to pick up the bill for the international leg

I have a UK iPhone and I'm in Germany right now. You can certainly use 3G, but I'd recommend you don't too much. They're charging me £3 per MB, which is a hell of a lot considering the amount of bandwidth you can get through on the iPhone.
