Use Phono or Optical cable??

Hi guys I want to connect this CD player to my AV receiver

I have a Yamaha RX-V667 Amp

Which is the best connection to use for sound quality? If I use the optical that will use the Amps DAC wont it? But surely a separate cd player has a better DAC then an amp? Advise please

I think at my price range of amp and player, maybe easier just to use the coax/optical, as I don't even own a high quality phono-to-phono lead but have a few optical ones kicking around
