I have a £3000 65" plasma downstairs 1080p, which pulls out from the wall and can be as close as 5ft from me sitting on my couch.

My Pc has 970 Sli.

I am debating buying a LG 21.9 screen with a desk and chair but for all the extra hassle and money am not to sure if it would be worth it vs probably the best 1080p Tv money can buy - ZT65B

I know 970 sli is overkill! But I can always use the 4k upscaling feature dsr

What do you think?

Depends what you want to do with it.

Think i'd take the resolution of a 34" ultrawide or a 40" 4k2k over that plasma, regardless of the fancy swivel thing or the cost.

I would go for a desk and monitor if you have the space to do so.

I have a 60inch Pioneer Kuro (The best TV money could buy :D) and would not use it full time as a monitor. For movies and casual games then its fine and doesn't need to the 5 foot away from me.

Test based work is not nice at all, even wen browsing becomes tiresome quickly.

I have a 60" LG Plasma PC games & Bluray movies look terrific anything else is a big no no you get screen burn on web browing & the DPI is just not good enough.

For gamepad only PC gaming a large plasma is awesome as long as the graphics change every few minutes anything else like an RTS or game with a lot of static screens leaves screen burn & image retention.

Never suffered any screen burn in over 10 years of owning plasma TV's, despite them not being set up properly in my youth whilst abusing them with hours upon hours of console games (usual FPS games with static Huds).

I've have bad image retention that took a while to shift on my older Samsung and panasonic plasmas, but no permanent image burn.

65" 1080p from 5ft, yikes extremely low PPI for gaming. A good tv for movies but not for gaming. With SLI you should be gaming on 1440p 16:9 or 1440p ultrawide for sure on a smaller screen at a desk. Your games will look so much sharper. 1080p is pretty bad IMO but at that size, no way ever. Plus lower input lag on a monitor.

You'll have to sit futher away than 5ft with a 65inch screen, if its just for games and your happy with the performance than it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks.

Try it, if you don't like it but a desk and monitor.

its such a personal thing I wouldn't bother wondering what others think :)

myself I get bored and uncomfortable after only 5minutes sitting at a desk lol

Just doing a quick test with my own 65" plasma and a laptop, I reckon youll need to be 7-8 feet back
My experience of plasma tv's though is that input lag tends to be pretty terrible on them, I cant use mine for gaming or desktop

Yours has around 40-45ms, which is low for a Tv but quite high by monitor standards

It would annoy the **** out of me, but your mileage may vary

Am not interested in reading text or movies. Just gaming. Surely the plasma will produce better blacks colours etc.

You'll have a huge low-PPI image in front of you. but yeah, it'll have better blacks though...

I plam to run dsr and test and see

Over-rated, IMO. Doesn't do much and there's no substitute for real pixels.
