Use Sonos Controller as a 'player' to listen on PC?

Probably a stupid question but is this possible? I have a Sonos Connect which is hooked up to the main hifi in the lounge, there's also an additional speaker in the hallway. But I'm sitting on my PC in the study and can't hear either of them particularly well. Can I not have music play through my PC speakers via the Controller app somehow?

It has been a little while since I did it but that was certainly how it works. Have you got the software on the PC?

I do, just installed it. But it's very much a controller for the Sonos. No audio comes out of the PC with it.

It seems geared up to do PC > Sonos rather than Sonos > PC.

I'm pretty sure this isn't possible. If you listen to your PC through an external amp and speakers, then you'll need to add another Connect, otherwise you'll need to buy one of the amplified products. The PC controller software that you have is literally just that... a controller for your Zones.

My limited Googling seems to agree. How bizarre. Oh well, I guess they want you to buy more speakers..

No otherwise why would they need to sell you any SONOS speakers or Amps?

A play 1 is < £170, not too bad at all.
