Hi all,

Had my watercooled system running for 7 months and I stripped it yesterday due to upgrades. I have Fat Boy barbs 1/2" and I was wondering whether its best to renew them or not? The O-Ring is very flat on them all, obvioulsy due to them being fitted for the last 7 months. Are they just as safe to use again or is it better to get new ones.

Money doesnt come into it so please advise without that in mind.

Many thanks,

RoEy

I would want to renew the O-ring as well. See if you can get some new ones. If not then the only way would be to get them with new barbs.

Unless you been constantly tightening and loosening them i think you will find the O-ring fine, can't see it being an issue and haven't had any problems with any barbs or comp fittings so far.

Barbs quite often sell second hand as well and I imagine there would be no market for such if they leaked after one use.

Agree with above - as long as they have not be tighen them to within an inch of their lives.
Reuse is fine.
A quick visual inspection for nicks/holes/freying is worth it.
New O-rings are available for a few quid (ten packs) can get nice UV colours too if your into that.
Fatboys are the best you can buy - highest ID at 10.1mm only reason to sell them is moving back to air

O-rings are disposable seals. I'd get into trouble at work if I reused them!

Reuse 'can' be OK but, for the price of an O-ring, I wouldn't risk damaging my components if I thought they may not seal. ie you say they look flat.

Ok, where do I get O-rings from for the fat boys and will they be as good quality as the ones that came with the fatboys?

If I can't get good quality o-rings I'll just get new fatboys.
