used G spot to check codecs

used G spot to check codecs and it says i have 211 is this too many or is this normal?
reason why i checked is because when i play certain AVI files, it will crash my machine 30 seconds into the clip.
all other vid files play fine

I would say that is not normal at all. Strip them all out and install ffdshow

is there a software package that will clean them out without doing it manually?

i have 297 installed. it counts directshow filters too. It is fine, just leave it.
