Hi,

I'm looking to buy a used gaming PC (don't have the money to build my own) and was wondering if anyone could advise me on the following specs:

RAM: ADATA DDR 1333(9) 8GX 16 U-Dimm

Processor: AMD FX FD6300

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB 3

PSU: ACE A-650BR

Graphics Card: XFX AMD Core Radeon HD 7750 800m 2gb

HDD: 1000gb

HDD: unknown (not sure on this?! Maybe typo on ad?)

Case: GC Vantage

If so, what are the kind of questions I need to be asking about a used computer?

Any help is appriciated!

Thanks,
Rob

My advice si get a friend to help
But unfortunately the forum has a no price check policy
So you better edit the post above
Into something like: what we think about the following components
Before a moderator jumps on you

The Fx 6300 is ok for a CPU
Motherbord is ok
8Gb ram ok
hard drive plenty of space
The power supply is uther rubbish
The graphic card useless

State the usage the machine will have
As gaming or just web and email

I am not good at this
So if somebody wants to make up a system of equivalent performance and you can see how much it will cost to buy from overclockers as new

Thanks for the info,

It'll mainly be used for playing League of Legends and web browsing....

Any recommendations on replacement power supply and graphics card for what I'll be using for?

That game has low requirements
The graphic card will be OK
For power supply
If you can aford it
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/supe...0-plus-gold-power-supply-black-ca-002-sf.html

Cheapest power supply i will consider is
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/xfx-...5-year-warranty-ocuk-exclusive-ca-019-xf.html

If you intend to buy the system
You have to make certain that it all works as it should

Download
Hd tune
Get the triale version from the website and test the hard drive
http://www.hdtune.com/
Hw Monitor to check if the system is overheating
http://www.guru3d.com/files-tags/hwmonitor.html
Unigine Valley to test system stability
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/unigine-valley-benchmark-download.html
Run test for 30min check temperatures
If CPU is under 50 And GPU under 80 degrees all is ok

That system better come with a copy of windows
Otherwise offer him less cash

I'm currently using a Lenovo H50, specs are:

Competitor link removed.

If its possible to boost my current PC id prefer to add £200 to that than buy a second hand gaming PC?

If that is the PC then I'd say sure, spend £150 on the GPU so a RX 470 and then £50 on a decent 80+ Gold PSU, it would be much better than that second hand one you shown us earlier.

I'm currently using a Lenovo H50,

The PC in your OP is a downgrade from your H50 apart from the GPU!

A quick-and-simple upgrade will be the GTX 1050 Ti. Do note that a quick search on Google indicates that your PC cannot cope with long graphics cards. What the maximum length is, I don't know.

I see.... thanks for the info both of you...

If I were to buy a new case, would it be possible to take all the units from the H50 and put them into the new case with the extras mentioned?

Why bother? All you need is a short GPU of which OCUK sell many. I've been unable to ascertain if a custom PSU is required. Do note that first-tier PC manufacturers like Dell and HP often use custom motherboards and PSUs which usually don't fit into standard cases. Again, I don't know if that's the case (ahem) here. I suggest you contact HP.

As someone who has tried this in a past I would suggest do not try to transfer pre built parts into a new case, it just turns into a real ball ache.

As a temp measure go for a short GPU card, this will get you playing LoL and messing about while you continue to save.

then when your feeling your current pc is just too damn slow period or breaks, then look about something new :)

Okay. You need to give your PC a good clean - use compressed air! Only the third image is of any real use. Your PSU doesn't seem to provide any extra PCIe power cables so you're limited to the GTX 1050 Ti or RX 460, and the GTX 1050 Ti is the better GPU. It looks like the case may be too small for a full-length card, but the GTX 1050 Ti isn't full length.

Unfortunately the link to your PC has been removed and I can't remember which PSU you have. Looking at the Lenovo site, there are two possibilities so you should make sure you have the 280W PSU.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £148.69
(includes shipping: £8.70)
