Ive had Vista BETA 2 X64 installed for a few days now and I have to say, I like it a lot.
The one thing which is kind of frustrating is not being able to use some of the apps I have used for years on the X64 platform or simply do not work with Vista.
I have included a list of apps I am using at the moment.
If anyone recommends anymore, I will add them to this post under the appropiate category.
I will try to stick with freeware applications only where possible although if you do decide to use an application reguarly, it is nice to contribute to the developer
Where I have listed a paid for application, if you know of an alternative freeware application, please post.
Over time, this could become a usefull thread to anyone else who makes the jump to 64bit/Vista over the next few months.
CD/DVD Writing Software
CDBurnerXP Pro - When ran in XP SP2 Compatibility Mode

Image Mounting Software
Virtual ISO ($19.95)
http://www.braindonors.net/products/virtualiso.asp
One of the only applications of its kind ive seen which properly works on Vista x64, well worth the £12 in my opinion. Daemon tools PRO is released, this is one of the few, if not only, working alternatives on the Vista/x64 platform.
Compression/Extraction
TUGZip
http://www.tugzip.com/
Zip Genius *Not had chance to test
http://www.zipgenius.it/eng/index.php
Torrent Client
uTorrent

HDD Partitioning Software
Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 ($49.99)
(Does not support Dymanic/Simple Disks)
http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/diskdirectorsuite/
One of the few partitioning programmes I know which will work on Vista x64.
*If you are having problems with the digital driver signing enforcement on boot, in Vista, run the following from the run menu:
Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON - This disables the enforcement.
**I hope none of the above links break any rules of the forum, if so, please except my appologies and remove them.
Feel free to recommend your own Vista x64 applications which you have found usefull.
