newsdemon.com has economy package but only 1 nntp server but the premium has 3 which one is ther better one to go for noobie to usenet ?
does it matter ?
"THREE NNTP Servers Available: (New York, USA), (Phoenix, USA), (Amsterdam, Netherlands)"
I doubt you'll really see much speed different by using a 'local' server. What's more important is the number of connections, 8 is good. Most providers tend to limit each connection so the more you use the better your speed. From reading their website they see to suggest they don't limit so you should have no problem maxing your line.
I've been with Newsdemon & now i'm with ThunderNews.
Even though ThunderNews has only 4 connections (on unlimited) it always stays maxed out. Newsdemon would slow down to 150Kbs at times even with all 8 connections. ThunderNews also has 80 - 85 day retention
When the server is closer, you generally don't need as many connections. I can get 20mbit with just 1 thread. With 2 threads it is completely solid 20meg.
ive just signed up with thundernews but wen im subscibing to newsgroups my average speed is 70k on a 8mb connection thought it would be a lot more than that

I've been using Easynews for awhile now and its great. Don't need any news-reader applications, can just download directly. Its £6 roughly a month or 24gig download, whatever comes first
