My MBP arrived yesterday, and I'm really liking it so far.

I have NewsbinPro for windows and was wondering if there is anything similar for for OSX. By similar I mean it needs to have support for NZB files and auto extraction with PAR checking. Are there any programs out there that you have used before and could recommend that would do these things?

As far as I know this topic doesn't break any rules but if a mod feels it does please delete.

Thanks

Must be a billion of this exact same thread, usually ends up with most of us saying sabnzbd (which is perfect as it downloads, repairs, unpacks and deletes the volumes, sorts etc. with no intervention) or unison which is less functional but works.

NZB Drop is quite good, like a better version of Unison but doesn't look so good (and has a crappy icon too)

Sabnzbd - http://www.sabnzbd.org/

By far the best usenet client around, supports everything you want and more.

THIS. Close thread now please.

I've never understood usenet.

It might be worth checking out nzbget. It's more resource friendly than sab as it's written in C++ as opposed to python.

That said sab is an easier install.

Hmmm, most users won't be too au fais with a command line newsreader though good suggestion.

Even though it's command line based, you can get a web front end for it that allows configuration, nzb uploading, and download monitoring.

Could be useful then - will take a look. Does it offer similar features such as sab? ie. repair/unpack/sort without intervention? If so, could be somethignt o look into but resource wise I find sab doesn't hog much if anything really - but then I only use my mini as a download/htpc

Yeah it offers the same features as far as I'm aware. Pretty sure it comes with unpacking/orgnaising scripts these days.

I swear by it on my NAS drive, lets me happily use 10 SSL connections where as sab wouldn't be able to cope.

SABnzbd+ is the best tool for download off newsgroups on any operating system, you can also access the Web UI from any PC on the network if you change the address from localhost to your machines IP.

Wonderful bit of software IMO
