User adding web content - How/what?

I'm making a website for my cousin and he wants to be able to have a couple of pages that he can update himself.

A news page where he can blog and update text on the site regularly
An events page where he can update a calendar
A gallery where he can upload photos

What would you recommend using? I've just made the barebones of the site and I'm looking to move on. Would wordpress be a good option? I've heard a lot about it and have only just started reading up on it.

Yeah wordpress, with a couple of addons maybe sounds ideal.

That does look good! It would be ideal really. But the gallery and calendar would be harder to implement with that correct?

I've integrated wordpress onto the site now - but I'm finding it hard to integrate a plugin/add on on there..
