Hey guys,

I've got a spreadsheet of about 150 users, which contains their username, computer name, installed software etc. I'm looking for something a bit more robust as the spreadsheet is constantly changing. We get new users/interns ever few weeks and I need to refer to this spreadsheet when troubleshooting things.

I know there are things like Spiceworks, but to be honest this is a bit over the top. I just need a basic local database that lets me run searches, is easy to update, and a bit less cluttered than an excel document with hundreds of entries.

Any ideas?

Transfer the data to Access? Effectively your currently using Excel as a database anyway so you should consider porting this across to access.

You can readily search users, activate and deactivate them in the database and track what software they are using. You would need to create a couple of forms and stuff to make a simple interface but I think it would be a good starting point and not too difficult to put together.

Yeah I was thinking of using Access. I've been searching all morning and there's not really a lot of options out of the box that are straight forward enough.

Been years since I've used Access :(
