Hi

we all have about a gazillion usernames and passwords these days

i was about to create a spreadsheet and put all mine in it

before i do that, where and how do you store/sort yours?

:)

Excel 2010 spreadsheet for me. It's very secure with AES encryption and management is super quick and easy.
Heck, I store official document scans in there too under different worksheets and so on with an index sheet at the front but it's organised filthily good, as one would expect from me, anyway :p

I have a basic, 16 character password which I manipulate in different ways to provide a unique and complex password for every site.

For example, my password could be thisismypassword which I would then perform different operations on to make it more complicated.

Such operations include;

Alphabet Shift: moving the letters to the left or right in the alphabet
Keyboard Shift: Moving up, down, left or right on the keyboard
Numeric Replacement: Replace certain characters with numbers eg a = 4, 3 = e
Symbol Replacement: Replace certain characters with symbols eg i = ! a = @

Therefore thisismypassword could become thi5i5myp455w0rd after a numeric replacement and rgu4u4nto344q9s after a keyboard shift.

I keep a record (the above would be 1K<) of the operations performed for the sites which I feel is safer than recording the actual passwords.

In work we use PasswordManager XP - we can share access amongst a few people and it offers ActiveDirectory integration for it's authentication (You can inclue an additional password on top). It also offers multiple databases/folders etc so you can offer some granular access.

LastPass here. Very happy with it and also lets me use ridiculously long and convoluted strings that I would never remember. :D

Also, due to slight paranoia, I do not include my email accounts, PayPal and one or two other things. I only store part of my digital banking security info too - usually the bits I always forget like customer number! :p

I also get reprompted for my master password [which changes regularly] for most shopping sites and also for my Form auto-fill. I usually opt not to save my CC info on shopping sites too. That way, should the nearly impossible happen and someone gets access to my LastPass, they can only spam forums and will be SOL trying to buy stuff using my CC! :D

Yeah but you won't be saying then when you're hit on the head and lose your memory :p

What's the likelyhood of keypass being hacked or used by hackers to gain your password information?

So far I can remember all of my passwords, but soon I will have so many I will need something like this...
Yea, it's encrypted but assuming someone where able to remote access your system via virus or some sort, or install a keylogger.

Wouldn't they be able to get all your password info almost immediately. The chances of it happening (because of my level of security) are slim, but just incase...
