Just got my first Mac and need a decent free Newsgroups application, I use Newsleecher on my Windows PC but have used Grabit in the past. Bit of Googling pointed me in the direction of Unison. No idea if it's any good, or what the free version includes.

I've used Transmission before as a Torrent client on a work Mac and found that perfectly fine, assume there is nothing better that is free and I should carry on using that?

Anything else worth grabbing as a must have application for a first time Mac owner?

Thanks

Not keen on spending any money as I've already bought Newsleecher for the PC. Would rather just have a free version on my Mac as a 'just encase' option.

Another thought, I usually need to VPN into my work network, Windows 7 just does this using the VPN feature, can OSX or what should I get to allow me to do this? Already got the Microsoft RDP Mac application installed.

Yep SABnzbd is all that you need my friend.

Yeah tried it last night and seem fine, dead easy to use and very small footprint. Exactly what I need as a Newsreader that I won't use much. I can RDP into my Windows box if I want to grab loads of files via Newsleecher.

What's the best .nfo reader? I normally use GetDiz.

Have you tried opening a .nfo with textedit? As that's OSX version of notepad/wordpad.

Yeah it opens, just wasn't as pretty as GetDiz but no issues.

Does anyone here play Football Manager on the Mac and also on PC?

I have my main game running on my Win 7 PC, and want to be able to play the save on the Mac as well. Running the save game (1.02GB) over the network means it takes about 15 minutes to load so my other option was to keep the save on an SD card or something. Am I overlooking anything?

Any other applications worth grabbing? I've got VLC and that's about it.

I'm also a bit confused on how to get the Twitter and FB thing into the Notification Bar, I can't see anywhere to enter my Twitter or FB login?
