Hi,
Is it possible to power one item off two different Power supply units?

Ie. Using the 12V and -ve cables together to power uno item.

I dont think it will work but is it possible?

Thanks

I know some cases mainly server can take two psu's. As for the specifics of your question i'm not 100% sure so wouldn't want to say one way or other.

Yeah, I thought that but I spose they will be powering seperate things.

I don't see why not in that case then. I do remember OCuk sold a gadget for combing two psu's, i think. Think it was so the both came on atthe same time, not sure though, never had that much money to burn.

i wouldnt recommend it.

Car stereo in the Garage, we have loads of crappy PSUs about, but are only about 4 Amps on the 12V rail. Needs about 6-8 or it cuts out :(
Guess we'll just get a proper PSU :D

why on earth would you want two psu's to power one thing??
i mean why not just buy that 1000w enermax(well i think its enermax but it in the this week only offers)

Are you blind or just awkward? Please look up :)

There are a few issues involved in doing this - one is getting the second PSU to switch on when the first one is booted, the other one involves potential earthing and equalisation issues which can strain electronic components over time - exagerated if the 2 PSUs aren't of equal performance...

Theres plenty of articles online about this - but I strongly wouldn't advise you to use 2 PSUs this way.

you can't combine the output from two PSUs to one device.
best option would be having a high ampage 2nd power supply for the sterio.
